First off, the car industry has gone from mild to wild over the last century. As you guide your way down this page you'll get an idea on what I'm trying to say. Let's take our Impala SS as an example to see what possibilities can be done all the way from basic to extreme car modifications that have revolutionized this industry.
Our demo, a 1996 Impala SS. Well over 310 horses under the hood and quality detail workmanship under the hood with mirror glass detail and aluminized blue high lights along with strobes and accent neon lighting, not to mention the six cameras surrounding each perimeter of the beast with .01 Lux Infrared technology able to see 50 foot distance at pitch dark along with nine TFT screens to see where your cruising. Did we mention Internet Access and OBD II technology built in for diagnostics and GPS for those hard to remember journeys to the farthest car shows. Earth pounding and glass shattering acoustics can be achieved with a 5-Way sound stage system including fully X-overed Tweeter, Center, Mid-range Mid-Bass and Subwoofer processing over fiber optics technology with a signal to noise ratio of 110db with a total of 40 drivers in all and five amplifiers at nearly 4400 watts lets just say you're better off reading this than hearing this!!!
Engine compartment completely detailed by Jtronx professionals with quality dedication to detail and perfection. Upgraded Quality performance parts were carefully bolted on to the stock 260 HP power plant to achieve and extra 50 horses for a maximum of 310 horses and about 300 pounds of torque to rear Z rated rubber.

With plenty of TFT to go around anyone can enjoy from the comfort of their own seat any source from surfing the Internet , to Playstation 2, to DVD, to Game Cube to even checking out the front, or rear car view via six quality cameras thanks to the independent Audio/Video switching console located at the reach of a finger from each lucky passenger. And not to mention 3 zone audio access where the left passenger can hear the audio of source independently from the right passenger and front passngers vice-versa. All you would need is the frig.

Many of today's custom modified vehicles have analog or digital gauges to monitor the performance of the engine and its components. The use of these tools will help prevent catastrophic failures in the event something goes wrong.
Audio competition vehicles require high current wiring to flow the proper amperage to the entire audio system. As seen on these pictures, the 0 gauge wire used can literally handle the juice required for many extreme applications. The use of capacitance in form of Farads can greatly improve the sound quality of the sound system by providing a burstable amount of current required when lower sound frequencies are produced from the amplifiers. Although, the alternator plays a big role in providing the constant demand of current required, Capacitors can sacrifice the alternator load and instead of improving the voltage on the system it can very well hurt it. High Output alternators are highly required for competition or any Audio system designed above 1000 watts.
Another trendy form of Car crazy would be to dress up your engine. From highly polished serpentine balancers or even Alternator pulleys and covers. Many aftermarket manufacturers design parts out of stock aluminum and once the part is formed it is then either highly polished to a chrome shine or given an anodized color in blue, red or yellow. You've most likely heard the term "Bolt On". These are aftermarket parts designed to increase the performance of your engine. For example, headers are a form of "Bolt On" and they can dramatically increase horsepower depending on your engine. Many other parts like Underdrive and Overdrive pulleys, a Cat-Back system, or even a turbo or supercharger. Now, for even crazier custom engine bays you can add neon lights or strobe lights and why not some custom cut mirror!

As you can see below most extreme car audio designs are made by the use of wood and fiberglass to constrcut the design and then bondo to form the product as seen below. Afer the pods were constructed they were covered with gray vinyl.
